Wine glasses with a fill line
A filling line on a wine glass is also called a marking line or calibration line. Calibration lines are only necessary if you sell wine by the glass. The regulations concerning the calibration of a wine glass have been regulated at the European level and cannot be changed. In this way, every professional is committed to serving the correct quantity to his or her customers. This way, you save money and the customer gains your trust and doesn’t feel cheated.
Glassmania is certified to perform such calibrations according to the standards. Discover an assortment of our best wine glasses with fill lines for restaurants, hotels and wine bars in our glass catalogue. Our glasses are sold either with a single gauge which indicates a capacity, or with a double gauge (for example at 0.5 and 1dl for the Robusto 37cl wine glass).
Which glasses need a fill line?
All wines sold by the glass require a fill line or gauge. There are several things that are listed in the seal. Firstly, it must clearly state which company printed the fill mark on the glass, in what year it was done and what the printer's certificate number is. A wine glass, for example, does not require a fill mark if the customer orders a whole bottle. However, if the customer orders a decanter of wine, this must also have a fill line. Non-alcoholic drinks such as tea, water or chocolate milk are excluded from this rule. Mixed drinks that are filled into cups or large glasses are also excluded.
